When to Vote
In 2008, there are four election dates. (For information on voting by mail or voting early in person, please see the section "Many Texans Vote Early.") Polls are open during early voting and on election days from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
- Primary Elections: March 4, 2008
- Ballot by Mail applications accepted (received, not postmarked): Jan. 4, 2008 - Feb. 26, 2008
- Last day to register to vote: February 4, 2008
- Early Voting: February 19, 2008 - February 29, 2008
- Primary Runoff Elections: April 8, 2008
- Ballot by Mail applications accepted (received, not postmarked): Feb. 8, 2008 - April 1, 2008 (if you did not request a runoff ballot on the primary ballot application)
- Last day to register to vote: March 10, 2008
- Early Voting: March 31, 2008 - April 4, 2008
- Uniform Elections (Most local political subdivisions): May 10, 2008
- Ballot by Mail applications accepted (received, not postmarked): March 11, 2008 - May 2, 2008
- Last day to register to vote: April 10, 2008
- Early Voting: April 28, 2008 - May 6, 2008
- Uniform Elections: November 4, 2008
- Ballot by Mail applications accepted (received, not postmarked): September 5, 2008 - October 28, 2008
- Last day to register to vote: October 6, 2008
- Early Voting: October 20, 2008 - October 31, 2008
